Reports: 90 million dogs in the US, 4.5 million bites per year

According to a survey performed by the American Pet Products Association found that there are roughly 90 million dogs owned in the United States. When you combine that number with a figure from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which says that about 4.5 million people are bitten by dogs every year, it is easy to see the potential problems that can occur as a result of dogs and dog owners. The highest rate for dog bites is for kids aged 5-9.

Serious legal implications follow after a dog attack

Owning a dog is a tremendous responsibility, and a privilege when done correctly. A well-trained and obedient dog will reward you with love and affection, and you -- as the dog owner -- can live with the satisfaction that the training and regimen you used successfully raised "a good boy."

Serious dog bite cases are on the rise in California

In recent years, it seems like dog bite cases have been grabbing headlines more frequently than they were before. Is this a sign of declining responsibility by dog owners? Are more people owning dangerous dogs or dangerous breeds? Is there even anything to this perceived phenomenon?

On dog bites and the people responsible for them

Dog bites aren't talked about enough. Even though dogs are man's best friend, they can also be incredibly powerful and vicious animals too. When a dog views another person as a threat and they attack with unrelenting force, the victim often suffers terrible injuries. In the worst case scenario, the person loses their life.
